St Josephs Catholic Primary Academy

We are proud to work with all the Catholic schools across our two local authority areas, particularly as the Trust grows and benefits from the expertise and knowledge that other schools joining in the future will bring.

Welcome to St. Joseph's Catholic Primary Academy

It is a great to welcome you to our school through this website and I hope that you will find it both helpful and interesting.

St Joseph’s is a one-form entry primary school for pupils aged 4 to 11 years. The Governors, Staff and Parents form a committed and valuable community partnership in which we all play an active part in our children’s education. We believe that through this, children not only develop academically, but grow as confident, independent individuals and so have the best grounding for life.

St Joseph’s is a caring school with a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone is valued and respected as part of God’s family. Our high expectations and high standards are combined with a sense of creativity, excellence and enjoyment, firmly underpinned by our steadfast belief that the Gospel Values of Jesus Christ are at the centre of everything we do.

St Joseph’s school was built in 1965 when the children and staff moved from the hall at St Joseph’s Church. We are a vibrant Catholic community serving the area of Batley Carr and Dewsbury. Cardinal Arthur Roche, who has served as prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship since 2021, was a pupil at St. Joseph’s when it was located in the church hall and was ordained as a priest in St. Joseph’s Church.

On 1st October 2021 we converted to an Academy and joined the Blessed Peter Snow Catholic Academy Trust.

We hope you find our website informative. You are warmly invited to visit our busy and friendly school and arrangements to visit can be made via the school office.

Best wishes,
